This role will be based at our Manufacturing site in Cowes, Isle of Wight.
What will you be doing?
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, where we are a bespoke manufacturer of load and angle monitoring equipment, you will provide mechanical design models and drawings to our customers and your engineering colleagues.
You will:
* Develop mechanical design concepts, models, and detailed drawings to meet application and customer requirements.
* Ensure mechanical suitability of equipment for intended applications and operating environments.
* Prepare manufacturing instructions for mechanical aspects of customer and internal projects.
* Support quotation activities by providing mechanical input, including quality assurance considerations.
* Investigate mechanical design issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Adapt or design bespoke equipment where standard solutions are unavailable or unsuitable.
* Support production teams with solutions for manufacturing, testing, and calibration requirements.
* Visit customer sites when high technical input is required, both within the UK and internationally.

To join our team, you will need:
* A qualification in Mechanical, Design, CAD or related subject
* Experience with CAD, ideally Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor
* Demonstrated interest in mechanical design, including relevant extracurricular or practical experience
* Experience managing CAD data using systems such as Autodesk Vault.
* Competent in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), supported by validated hand calculations.
* Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including stress/strain and material selection.
* Ability to interpret and produce engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions.
