Senior BI Engineer Position: Senior BI Engineer Employment Type: Full-time Department: BI & Data Team Reports To: Chief Technology Officer Location: Central Maidstone, Kent (full-time, office-based) About the Role We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior BI Engineer to join our dynamic BI & Data team. This is a senior role where you’ll play a critical part in shaping and advancing our business intelligence capabilities. You’ll design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and BI solutions that directly support data-driven decision-making for our customers. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in data integration technologies such as Azure Data Factory or SSIS, and a real passion for developing expertise in the Azure ecosystem, including Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric. Key Responsibilities Data Integration & Pipelines Design, develop, and manage data integration processes and ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or similar tools. Ensure seamless data flow between cloud-based and on-premises systems. Data Modelling & Warehousing Develop and optimise data models to meet reporting and analytics needs. Design and maintain efficient data warehouses, using Azure Synapse Analytics or similar technologies. Business Intelligence Solutions Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver actionable BI solutions. Build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI or other tools. Azure & Emerging Technologies Expand and apply knowledge of Azure’s evolving toolset, including Microsoft Fabric. Explore and recommend new approaches to improve data processes and analytics. Performance & Quality Monitor and optimise data processes for performance and cost efficiency. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and security across all BI solutions. Collaboration & Mentorship Partner with analysts, data scientists, and IT professionals to deliver end-to-end solutions. Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues, fostering growth and collaboration. Key Requirements Essential Skills 5 years of experience in data engineering and data modelling across complex domains. Hands-on experience with BI tools such as Power BI. Proven track record with cloud data warehouses (Azure or AWS). Skilled in implementing ETL processes, data pipelines, and data structures using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Boomi, Logic Apps, etc. Proficiency in at least one programming or query language (SQL, T-SQL, Oracle PL/SQL). Experience connecting to enterprise applications and databases via APIs. Knowledge of software architecture and design patterns, focusing on scalability and quality. Strong understanding of core business processes. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal. Collaborative team player with strong problem-solving skills. Experience 5 years in BI engineering, data integration, or related roles. Demonstrated success in delivering end-to-end BI solutions with measurable business impact. Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset. Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, accessible language. Proactive, self-motivated, and keen to innovate. Nice to Have DBA experience. Experience defining and measuring data quality. Knowledge of testing and use cases. Familiarity with Atlassian suite. Preferred Qualifications Azure Data Engineer Associate certification or equivalent. Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and a desire to deepen expertise. Experience working in Agile environments.
