As a Solutions Architect Apprentice, you'll help shape how Amazon builds secure, scalable, efficient systems - working at the intersection of people, technology, and business outcomes. You'll learn how to translate customer and business needs into technical designs, exploring how cloud technologies, architecture principles, and system integrations come together to solve real challenges. You'll work alongside experienced architects, engineers, and technical consultants who will guide your learning and help you develop the skills needed to influence how our technology evolves.
About the role
As a Solutions Architect Apprentice, you'll support a range of teams across Amazon and AWS who design high-impact technical solutions. You may work on projects that help customers migrate to the cloud, improve system performance, enhance security, automate processes, or design services that support millions of users. Your role bridges technical and non-technical worlds - helping teams understand requirements, exploring options, and guiding decision-making. You'll become skilled at asking the right questions, analysing information, and presenting recommendations that make a real difference. You'll contribute to projects that influence how Amazon builds and delivers technology.
What you will learn
* Working with internal teams to understand their needs and challenges
* Helping design and evaluate technical solutions, using cloud and architectural principles
* Breaking down complex problems into practical, actionable steps
* Supporting the documentation of architectures, diagrams, and best practices
* Learning how to use AWS services and tools to build secure, scalable systems
* Presenting technical insights in clear, accessible language to stakeholders
* Collaborating with engineers, product managers, and customers
* Participating in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and innovation discussions
Develop the skills, confidence, and experience to design innovative technical solutions that power Amazon's global technology ecosystem.
Eligibility requirements
* Be 18 years old by September 2026
* Have the right to live and work in England for the full programme duration
* Have lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years
* Not be enrolled on another government-funded qualification ending August 2026 or later
* Have 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including Maths and English
* Have a Level 3 qualification in a related subject, such as: Two A-Levels + Level 3 apprenticeship + BTEC Extended Diploma + International Baccalaureate + Or 2-3 years of relevant experience
* Not already hold a qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject
* Provide a UK ENIC Statement of Comparability for overseas qualifications (if applicable)

You don't need existing solutions architecture experience - we're looking for potential, not perfection. With experience, you may choose to specialise further in areas such as cloud architecture, DevOps, machine learning, security, or enterprise solutions. Whatever direction you choose, the skills you gain - technical problem-solving, architectural thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement - will give you a strong platform to build a long-term career in technology.

Assessments
Games-based Assessment
Complete a series of interactive, game-style tasks designed to help us understand your natural strengths and problem-solving style. There are no right or wrong answers - just play instinctively.
Video Interview
Video interview to tell us about your background, motivations, knowledge, skills and interests.
Virtual Assessment Centre
Assessment centres include: a group exercise, presentation and individual interviews.
Offer
If successful we will extend you an offer to join our programmes and our recruitment teams will send you a contract of employment.
Onboarding process
Our recruitment teams will complete the necessary background checks, register you with the programme training provider and obtain any personal information needed to begin your employment. Start You'll then be ready to join us on your Apprenticeship programme.
