About the Role
The successful candidate will provide commercial and contractual expertise to support project management across the business. This includes managing contracts to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulations, overseeing post-contract management, and maintaining high levels of commercial assurance on various contract types such as bespoke frameworks, NEC, and JCT.
1. Drive business performance through continuous improvement in contract management, including managing variations and changes.
2. Support project managers with forecasting and controlling project spend using commercial acumen.
3. Assist in developing budget estimates for project approval using actual cost data and measurement techniques.
4. Manage project costs, risks, and mitigation strategies, including regular site visits to monitor progress and verify costs.
5. Lead contract resolution efforts, focusing on affordability and risk mitigation.
6. Collaborate with procurement to select appropriate contractual routes and evaluate tenders.
7. Ensure compliance with internal control manuals and implement key commercial practices.
8. Conduct mini-tender procurement activities for non-framework projects.
9. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to understand mutual drivers.
Who We Are Looking For
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
* Experience in contract negotiation and claims management is desirable.
* Chartered status or working towards (RICS, CIOB, CICES) is desirable.
* Knowledge of contract administration, including NEC and JCT contracts.
* Strong numerical skills and proficiency in MS Excel and other software.
* Experience managing high-value, multi-disciplinary projects.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Full UK driving license.
