An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 4- session salaried GP with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join ourbusy, but friendly, family Practice.

You would join an existing clinical teamof 4 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse, Nurse Associate and GP Assistant serving 7,200 patients in Preston's City Centre.

We seek someone who is flexible, dedicated, motivated and shares our values on rigid-prescribing, mutual pastoral support and effective clinical practice.

We are looking for someone to offer us 4 sessions per week. We are flexible with the working pattern to be agreed with the successful candidate.

The role is initially to be a fixed term contract up to 31 March 2027, but with a view to extension by mutual agreement and continuing funding.

Excellent remuneration on offer, dependent on previous experience. We can be flexible on sessions for the right candidate.

Additional sessions available for covering holiday absence.

We are based in Geoffrey Street Health Centre, with excellent transport connections and on-site parking.

Interviews to be held on the morning of

Tuesday 7 July

with a GP Partner and Practice Manager.

We are a Tier 2 Visa sponsoring Practice.

Main duties of the job Provide GMS services in the form of face to face, telephone and home visits.

Participate in telephone triage / On-call Doctor role as part of the weekly rota.

Participate in repeat prescriptions checking as part of the weekly rota.

Maintain accurate, concise clinical records and coding.

Enthusiasm to work collaboratively across our clinical and non-clinical team.

Support the Partners & Management team in achieving practice aims, recommending and developing as necessary.

About us The New Hall Lane Practice is a long-established, 4 partner, family practice with a list size of around 7,200 patients, centrally located in the heart of Preston.

We are a multi‑cultural, dynamic and friendly team who work hard to provide quality care and clinical excellence, backed by high QOF & IIF achievements.

We take pride in being a long‑standing training practice for ST2 & 3 doctors and Medical Students from Lancaster University.

We use the EMIS Web clinical system.

We are an active member of our 9 practice PCN - Greater Preston PCN and part of Lancashire & South Cumbria ICB.

Job responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post‑holder will make him/her‑self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health

Providing counselling and health education

Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards

Compiling and issuing EPS acute and repeat prescriptions

Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

In general, the post‑holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, including: taking part in the day‑time on‑call rota; taking a usual share of repeat prescriptions and prescription queries; telephone triage and home visits as needed

Other Responsibilities within the Organisation

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, infection control

A commitment to life‑long learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practice

Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation

Contributing to the development of computer‑based patient records

Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read‑Coding patient data

Attending training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate

Negotiating holidays with the partners so as to avoid gaps in patient care

The post‑holder in conjunction with the management will be responsible for ensuring they undertake the appropriate level of training relevant to their individual role and responsibilities and that they are aware of and work within the relevant safeguarding policies and procedures.
