Overview
We are looking to develop our engineering team to meet our generation and refurbishment challenges and as a result have opportunities for an Electrical Engineer working across both Dinorwig and Ffestiniog power stations to join an existing team of skilled engineers. The role will primarily be taking a lead role in grid connection policy on behalf of ENGIE for both Dinorwig & Ffestiniog power stations and will oversee the Production/Engineering environment but also support and advise the major refurbishment project.
Responsibilities
* Oversee ongoing compliance and grid code requirements
* Manage relevant technical studies
* Manage contracts, costs, stakeholders associated with grid connections
* Lead the technical coordination of future ancillary services
* Work closely with system operators & compliance departments
* Manage all associated records and documentation in accordance with company policy
* Oversee plant performance and sites asset management and advise to ensure compliance with generator grid compliance/connection
* Serve as an Asset Engineer for designated systems, depending on skills and experience
Qualifications
* Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline and working towards professional status
* Ideally have completed formal safety training (eg. IOSH Managing Safety) and hold a qualification in project management
* Relevant experience and knowledge in the following areas:
* Relative technical knowledge and experience within the power generation industry and a good understanding of hydro/conventional power generation processes
* Experience with systems such as generators, motors, excitation systems, transformers, circuit breakers, HV/LV switchgear/distribution, governor systems
* Understanding of rotating plant control, protection, and interlocking systems
* Understanding of fault ride through, HV protection design, earthing systems
* Experience with grid connections/grid compliance requirements
* Understanding of electrical system designs
* Ability to deliver compliance against O&M policy, principles, directives and procedures and develop local procedures where appropriate
* Experience in electrical asset integrity and process safety management
* Implement quality control practices for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and asset inspection and maintenance
* Lead reviewing and planning for capital investment and major repairs/projects
* Identify opportunities to improve asset performance and integrate systems for improved plant monitoring
* Experience of contract and project management and budget/programme control
* Work within management and business procedures and corporate IT systems
* Knowledge of environmental, health and safety legislation affecting the discipline
