Product Development Engineer
Location: Glasgow
Term: Permanent
Salary: GBP 40,000 – 60,000 per annum, dependent on experience
My client designs and manufactures bespoke metal and plastic products for UK and global customers. They are looking for a Product Development Engineer to join their team in Glasgow on a permanent basis.
Qualifications and Experience
* BEng or BSc Degree qualified or similar in Product Design/Industrial Design/Mechanical Engineering or similar
* At least 5 years of experience working in a Product Development / Design Engineering role within a product development environment
* Innovative, creative and passionate about design and manufacture
* Proficient using 3D CAD – ideally Fusion 360 software but others may be considered
* Previous experience delivering projects from concept right through to manufacture
* Excellent communication skills and organisational skills
* Previous experience coaching, managing or leading others
* Strong analysis, FMEA and DFM skills
* Strong experience with Injection Moulding
* A good understanding of materials and varied manufacturing processes and principles
Role Responsibilities
* Leading teams focused on the design and development of new products
* Managing and maintaining the process with improvements and new initiatives
* Reviewing, validating and delivering the full product life cycle
* Overseeing deadlines, budgets and timescales
* Providing technical expertise
* BOM management working with the company ERP system
* Always having an appreciation for CI and Lean Manufacturing
* Technically liaising with customers for R and D
