About the role
We are seeking a Business Development and Operations Officer to join AUB Academy. The role involves working closely with the AUB Academy Manager, Senior Business Development Officer, and Senior Operations Officer to support, widen, and advance AUB Academy’s course portfolio.
In this essential role, the post holder will support strategic growth, secure high-value business opportunities, and help develop bespoke programmes aligned with AUB’s mission to widen access, foster international pathways, and support civic engagement.
Working directly with the Senior Business Development Officer, the post holder will support research and market analysis to identify new sectors, audiences, and partnerships globally. Their expertise will contribute to the development of demand-led courses that meet sector needs and attract diverse learners. The role includes championing innovative delivery models such as blended and remote learning, and building relationships with industry, civic organisations, and educational institutions to create pathways for international student progression and social mobility.
The role places a strong emphasis on securing new revenue streams, including the commercial hire of university assets and facilities, and on developing marketing strategies to promote bespoke programmes and resource hire services. The post holder will support the creation of compelling marketing collateral and campaigns targeting key stakeholders, including schools, industry partners, civic bodies, and prospective students, helping to elevate AUB’s profile regionally, nationally and internationally.
The successful applicant will be a confident self-starter and able to evidence experience in coordinating or delivering a range of relevant skills. They will demonstrate a strong understanding of the role short courses play in widening access to higher education, awareness of recruitment challenges facing short courses, and knowledge of how these challenges can be addressed. They will also evidence a strong commitment to delivering excellent student experiences and a passion for creative arts education.
Working closely with the Senior Operations Officer, the post holder will oversee operational planning, coordinating course logistics, venue bookings, resource management, and the recruitment of tutors and course staff to ensure the smooth delivery of all new and existing high-quality AUB Academy programmes. The role requires flexibility to balance business development activities with operational, coordination, and administrative duties, managing logistics and resources while developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
The post holder will be highly organised and will deliver excellent levels of communication and customer service in the provision of the course portfolio. They will make a significant contribution to the development and quality of AUB Academy’s course provision and will support the Senior Operations Officer in implementing auxiliary safeguarding measures for under-18s participating in Saturday Art School, Creative Arts Summer School, and all summer programmes where students are aged under 18.
The position requires regular movement of course assets around the AUB campus, participation in rostered early evening and Saturday shifts during term time, and occasional out-of-hours working, particularly during the undergraduate summer recess period. A flexible working schedule will be arranged in consultation with the AUB Academy Manager.
This position involves working with children (under-18s) / vulnerable people and therefore requires compliance with the University’s Safeguarding Policies, including the requirement for enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance prior to the commencement of employment.? The successful candidate will be required to complete AUB approved Safeguarding Training.
