Responsibilities
* Managing fieldwork activities including supervising drilling and excavation works, and undertaking gas and groundwater monitoring, low-flow groundwater sampling and surface water sampling.
* Undertaking Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies) and intrusive site investigations for environmental and/or geotechnical purposes in line with national standards and codes of practice.
* Supporting the project manager in planning new projects including liaising with subcontractors and suppliers and preparing health, safety, environment and quality (SHEQ) documentation.
* Scheduling soil, rock and water samples for chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing.
* Writing factual and interpretative reports.
* Supporting tender managers in preparing fee proposals.
Qualifications
* BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related subject essential.
* Up to 3 years previous relevant work experience.
* Rock core logging capabilities is advantageous but not essential.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
* Ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise workload.
* Able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Skilled with Microsoft Office applications in particular Word and Excel.
* Proactive approach to professional development with current (or aspiring) membership of a relevant professional body.
* Full UK driving licence essential.
