This is a great opportunity to join our team as a Field Interviewer working for the Office for National Statistics via AMS. As a Field Interviewer carrying out official surveys you will help to inform Government about the state of the nation.
Responsibilities
* Field Interviewer will work as part of a team to visit sampled addresses to encourage completion of surveys and interview respondents in their homes.
* The role is not office based and requires working within a 40-mile radius (approx.) of an allocated location. Work will be allocated to ensure travel and completion within contracted hours in this area.
* Interviews will be conducted between 09:00 and 20:00 with potential for admin and travel time outside these hours.
* The role includes mornings, afternoons, and evenings with contract to work Monday to Saturday.
What we are looking for
* A friendly, outgoing personality with the confidence to approach and converse with a wide range of people.
* Excellent communication skills to be the face of ONS and, where needed, to persuade reluctant members of the public to take part in surveys.
* Ability to plan, organise and manage own workload with full training and support provided.
* Be able to transport and carry equipment (e.g., laptop and survey materials), occasionally walk between addresses, and navigate stairs when in the field.
Requirements of the role
* Live within a 10 mile radius of the location and be able to travel to addresses within a 40 mile radius from the advertised location.
* Interviews conducted between 09:00–20:00; hours split across mornings, afternoons, and evenings with optional Saturdays.
* Experience using a laptop and a smartphone.
* Self-disciplined, self-motivated, and able to work without supervision.
* Excellent verbal communication skills and enjoy meeting and talking to people.
* Must be able to transport equipment and work remotely as required.

Essential Requirements
* Candidates will be subject to UK immigration requirements as well as Civil Service eligibility rules.
* Full valid UK Driving License (including rights of EU Nationals) and full use of a car for work purposes including business use.
* Proof of Identity.
* Broadband internet connection at your home address prior to taking up an offer of employment.

Selection process details
* Assessment at application stage will be based on work history, skills and experience and personal statement. Your application should demonstrate skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
* If successful, you will be invited to a video interview lasting 30–45 minutes. You will be assessed on your suitability by providing evidence during the interview. Familiarise yourself with the required competencies and prepare questions to ask.

Successful candidates must undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks and a criminal record check.
