FIXED TERM CONTRACT / SECONDMENT TO 30/09/2026 Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking a Data Cleansing Officer to help prepare high quality financial data for our transition from Unit4 ERP7 (Agresso) to Unit4 ERPx. You ll work with colleagues across Finance, Procurement, and our Accounts Payable/Receivable Teams to cleanse and standardise master and transactional data so that our new system goes live with accurate, trusted information. About the Role Working with the Technical Lead and the ERPx project team, you will deliver robust data quality improvements and cleansing activities to ensure reliable management information that supports decision making, business planning, and statutory reporting. You ll also promote good data governance and help embed sustainable processes for ongoing data quality. Key responsibilities Execute data cleansing workstreams for Supplier, Customer, and Contract data in the council s financial management system Unit4 ERP7 (Agresso) in readiness for migration to Unit4 ERPx. Profile data to identify duplicates, gaps, and anomalies; define and apply business rules to standardise formats (naming, addresses, VAT numbers, payment terms, bank details). Work with relevant stakeholders to confirm data cleansing activities, such as duplicate removal, record consolidation, status verification, and validation of key data fields. Establish and document data standards, quality checks, and signoff criteria; maintain an auditable trail of changes. Build repeatable cleanses using tools such as Excel/Power Query, lookups and matching logic; where appropriate, prepare loadready datasets and mapping tables for migration cycles. Support mock loads/dress rehearsals and reconcile pre/postload results; capture defects and drive remediation. Produce clear progress reporting, dataquality metrics, and insights to inform stakeholders. Provide guidance and training to colleagues on data capture, validation, and good governance so improvements are sustained after golive. Contribute to wider process improvements that enhance data quality at source. About you (Essential) Educated to Alevel (or equivalent) with an ITrelated qualification. Excellent Microsoft Office skills (advanced Excel in particular) and experience turning data into clear analysis/reports. Proven experience cleansing and interpreting operational/financial datasets and producing concise, actionable summaries for stakeholders. Able to work independently, plan activity over days/weeks, and present findings to senior staff. Desirable Experience with Unit4 ERP / ERPx or other Financial Management Systems; familiarity with finance master data (suppliers, customers, contracts). Handson involvement in data migration projects, including mock loads and reconciliations. Skills with Power Query, or basic SQL for profiling and reconciliation. Why join us?
