The one-year Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship (PGTA) provides a unique opportunity to earn a salary while you train for your teaching qualification. To become an apprentice teacher, you will need: • GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4 (C) or above in English and maths (and science if you want to teach primary) • a degree (this does not have to be in education) • to be eligible to live and work in the UK for the duration of the programme An important first step towards becoming an apprentice teacher is to secure a school to employ you for the duration of your apprenticeship training.
