Sda deputy build project manager

Barrow-in-Furness
Ministry Of Defence
Project manager
Posted: 21 August
Offer description

The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is a part of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in-service support, and disposal of the UK's nuclear submarines. Our work is of unparalleled strategic importance nationally and internationally, ensuring the security of the UK's continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent (CASD), and delivering some of the most technically complex programmes in defence. At least one of four nuclear-armed submarines, supported by smaller attack submarines, is on patrol at all times: 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

At the SDA, we strive to Support, Deliver and Aspire and put our values at the heart of our recruitment process. We believe that everyone should feel comfortable to be themselves and be supported to do their best work. As part of a diverse and inclusive workforce, our team will find a community to belong to. We believe that, by celebrating different backgrounds and different perspectives, together we'll achieve the extraordinary.

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in one of the UK's most strategically important defence programmes? Join the Dreadnought Build Programme and help shape the future of the UK's submarine capability. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of a high-profile programme that supports national security, drives innovation, and delivers long-term social and economic value. If you thrive in complex environments, enjoy engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, and want to make a tangible difference, this could be the role for you.

You'll join the Build Manager team, which is focused on increasing submarine production through close collaboration with multiple functions. You will be involved in the setting of the Build Contract across the four boats and monitoring the delivery of the construction phase whilst holding the main build contractor (BAE Systems) to account for their responsibilities. You will be part of a team within an Alliance construct working with colleagues from the SDA, BAE Systems, and Rolls Royce.

As a key member of the team, you'll report to the Build Programme Manager and contribute to the delivery of critical programme outputs. Your work will involve collaboration across the Alliance to ensure effective programme outcomes.

Hybrid and flexible working can be considered but will require regular workplace attendance due to security constraints. Candidates are encouraged to discuss options with the recruiting line manager before applying.

Due to security requirements, this position is open to UK nationals only.

2. Ensuring cost-effective and efficient delivery, mitigating risks, and leveraging opportunities.
