Cranleigh STEM has partnered with a global leader in the speciality chemicals sector, supporting advanced manufacturing and engineering applications across a diverse customer base. The company is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join its team, offering the opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving robust Quality Management Systems across multiple production sites, ensuring compliance with international standards and customer-specific requirements.
You will be instrumental in driving quality excellence, supporting adherence to IATF 16949 and ISO 9001, and working cross-functionally to uphold the company’s high standards of product performance and reliability. Reporting to the QHSE Manager, this position also includes leadership responsibilities, including the ability to deputise in their absence.
Senior Quality Engineer responsibilities:
Maintain and enhance Quality Management Systems to IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards across several manufacturing locations.
Support product and process quality assurance to meet stringent customer and company specifications.
Develop and submit PPAP documentation for new product introductions and modifications.
Conduct and lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA); maintain Control Plans and FMEAs throughout product lifecycles.
Chair problem-solving initiatives using 8D, 5-Why, root cause analysis and similar methodologies.
Manage the IMDS database and ensure timely annual submissions.
Plan and execute product, process and system audits (internal, supplier, and customer).
Participate in APQP processes for new tools and process start-ups, including Measurement System Analysis and process capability studies.
Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams (Sales, R&D, Operations) to resolve complaints and non-conformances.
Ensure audit readiness and support third-party certification and surveillance audits.
Provide quality input to cross-functional teams and special projects.
Senior Quality Engineer requirements:
Proven experience in a Quality Engineering role within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
Proven background in maintaining ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certified systems.
Certified internal auditor with demonstrable audit experience (internal, supplier, and VDA preferred).
Strong analytical skills with working knowledge of statistical tools and techniques, including DOE and SPC; Minitab experience desirable.
Knowledge of analytical chemistry principles is advantageous.
Effective communicator with experience collaborating with engineering, operations, and customer quality representatives.
High level of IT literacy, ideally with experience in QMS and ERP software.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
