1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Behaviour Support

Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
Long-term position | Post-16 college setting
The Role
We’re working with a fantastic college in Walthamstow looking for a dedicated SEN TA to provide 1:1 support for a post-16 student. The learner presents with behavioural challenges and has complex SEN needs, so this role calls for someone steady, skilled, and genuinely caring.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the college day
2. Help manage behaviour calmly and confidently
3. Support access to learning and promote independence
4. Work closely with SENCO, tutors, and pastoral staff
5. Follow EHCP and behaviour plans
6. Encourage engagement in academic and social activities
Ideal Candidate:
7. Experienced in SEN and behaviour support
8. Confident with de-escalation techniques and emotional regulation
9. Familiar with ADHD, autism, and SEMH needs
10. Reliable, empathetic, and firm but fair
11. Experience in a college or post-16 setting is a bonus
12. Creative/vocational subject background also a plus!
