We have a fantastic opportunity at our East Kilbride site for an experienced Butcher to join our expanding team.
The main purpose of this role is to provide factory-ready meat products in accordance with company standards and national law. You will produce meat products to the highest quality standards, whilst complying with all company operating requirements, especially in respect of quality; health & safety; environment & ethics; animal welfare; traceability; product integrity; labelling; and company personal & food hygiene rules.
Main Responsibilities
1. Cut, trim, and prepare animal material to specified standards for relevant stages in the production process, e.g., carcass splitting and preparing specific meat cuts.
2. Remove bones and cut meat into standard cuts for market.
3. Follow traceability processes and ensure product & labelling integrity at all times.
4. Drive and deliver processing efficiency through correct equipment operation.
5. Keep and maintain appropriate records as required.
6. Ensure familiarity and compliance with company policies, standards of operation, and safe operating procedures.
7. Ensure consistent and timely attendance at work.
8. Provide flexibility to meet company operational requirements.
9. Support team members, supervisors, and managers verbally and in writing.
Skills Required
1. A minimum of 2 years of butchery experience.
2. Relevant butchery qualification (desirable).
3. Previous knife skills, preferably on a pace line.
4. Basic spoken and written English skills, essential for health & safety, traceability, and quality control (to be tested during recruitment).
5. Attention to detail.
6. Understanding of legislative and company meat processing standards.
7. Experience working in a chilled environment.
8. Flexible, adaptable, and eager to learn.
9. Ability to learn and implement new information quickly.
10. Strong team collaboration skills.
11. Accreditation for Food Hygiene at minimum level 2 or willingness to work towards it.
