Position
HGV Class 2 Drainage Engineer
Location: Beckton Sewage Treatment Works, North London Region (Ilford, East London)
Job type: Permanent, full‑time
Hours: 4 days on 4 days off, average 40.25 hours per week (early and late)
Salary: OTE £50,000 per annum (basic pay + overtime + on‑call allowance + bonuses)

About The Role
 * Travelling to residential sites via a HGV in a two‑person team, around the region, powering a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
 * Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
 * Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
 * Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
 * Deliver good customer service.
 * Maintain good health and safety practice while carrying out works.
 * Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
 * Comply with health and safety responsibilities (PPE / safe site setups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users).
 * Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
 * Operate JHL specification vacuum tankers and associated equipment.
 * Safely access vehicle cabs, sites and offices using correct procedures.
 * Manipulate flexible pipework in a safe manner utilising correct manual handling techniques.
 * Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, wearing correct PPE or utilising the lone worker system.
 * Dynamically risk assess site access and working conditions.
 * Liaise with the client regarding process and any updates.
 * Provide support to your colleagues.
 * Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before and after use.
 * Report any defects or malfunctions.
 * Carry out risk assessments and adopt a mature approach to risk perception.
 * Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
 * Perform any other reasonable ad‑hoc tasks, duties or projects as requested by management.
About You
The ideal candidate will be hard‑working, respectful, and comply with health & safety standards. Experience in the use of High Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA, Confined Spaces) are an advantage.
Qualifications
 * Minimum of a HGV Class 2 licence.
 * Completed the Health Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
 * Up‑to‑date digital tachograph card.
