After a wave of investment to further boost our market-leading position in the van courier market, we are now looking for an experienced and talented sales leader to work in partnership with some of our largest customers, providing senior account support and delivering new sales.

Purpose of the role

A key role within our Commercial team and based at our Head Office in Tamworth, this is a fast-paced position working with some of the UK's biggest players in retail parcel deliveries and manufacturing supply chain logistics. You will provide day-to-day account management support and analyse performance data to drive continual improvement. Using your initiative along with the tools and data available, you'll shape key account plans that deliver tangible improvements and efficiencies to protect and grow the bottom line.

More than that, you'll forge effective relationships and proactively identify new opportunities, building a new business growth pipeline across your portfolio. Adept at drawing on support from subject matter experts across the business, you'll help to design bespoke van courier solutions tailored to the secure delivery of time-sensitive consignments.

A typical week will be varied, and strong time management will be key to providing the support required, from preparing for account review meetings and handling service enquiries, to developing new quotes and service proposals. There will be regular site meetings to attend across the UK, which you'll need to juggle with the timely preparation of high-quality pitch presentations, and account performance reports aligned to action plans that protect and grow revenue.

Salary of £55-65k p.a. dependent on experience, plus car allowance, pension and other benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities

Account Management

· Research, identify, forecast, plan and deliver customer account targets and win new business.

· Produce and implement robust customer plans and service improvement recommendations to ensure your portfolio exceeds the revenue and growth targets.

· Work with subject matter experts to create new service solutions and win new business.

· Create and convert a pipeline of growth opportunities across existing customers.

· Work with Marketing to develop targeted awareness campaigns, case studies and testimonials to support customer retention and new business development.

· Build a detailed understanding of customer strategy, industry challenges and track competitor activity to ensure your proposals are as effective as possible.

· Take ownership for the speed/quality of delivery against account plans and all communications.

· Ensure daily, weekly, monthly and annual updates of customer records, trackers and reports.

· Provide effective and timely communication to all stakeholders of account activities.

· Maintain a detailed understanding of our services and points of market differentiation.

Strategy and best practice

· Drive continual improvement of key account management and new business processes.

· Monitor trends to identify risks and opportunities, and inform the commercial strategy.

· Ensure all proposals and documents adhere to all relevant regulatory compliance requirements, and established rules and guidelines.

· Prepare sales contracts and maintain accurate written records/CRM file notes.

Applicant Criteria

Industry experience required:

· Minimum 5 years account management experience in a similar role (logistics experience preferred).

· Proven experience of developing bespoke solutions requiring a high level of detail and accuracy.

· Experience of working within strict governance and compliance standards.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

· Experience of developing, reporting and achieving monthly/quarterly/annual targets.

· Experience in consultative sales of £m+ operational, technical and service efficiency solutions.

· Strong commercial acumen with a passion for delivering excellent service and new growth.

· Ability to build rapport across departments and negotiate at a senior level.

· Proactive by nature, with a positive can-do attitude, resilient to change and uncertainty.

Technical skills required:

· Fluent English essential, with exceptional attention to detail across all communications.

· Highly proficient using Excel, PowerPoint and Word, and CRM/database tools.

Salary and Location:

· Full time based at our Head Office in Tamworth, with frequent travel to customer/industry events as required (full driving licence essential).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £55,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
