We are looking for a nurse to join our cancer research team at the Ipswich site of East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust. The role includes supporting studies in cancer as well as other specialities (e.g. dermatology and Covid19 research) across the Trust when required. The Research and Development department at ESNEFT is an established clinical research unit hosting a variety of studies from NIHR portfolio and charitable funded studies, to commercially sponsored clinical trials of investigational medicinal products (CTIMPs). This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team. A vital part of this role will be to ensure that you provide excellent research care to patients who have consented to participate in research. An important aspect of the role will be the maintenance of highly accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies. The role will be largely directed by senior team members however, the post holder must be able to prioritise and manage their time and workload effectively. They must be methodical and well organised in order to undertake research activities including following study protocols, clinical assessments, case report form completion, daily management and co-ordination of study participants. You will work across a range of studies including observational research, novel drug therapy and clinical interventions. The post will further develop specialist research skills under the guidance of the Team leader and senior team members. We are keen to invest in and develop our staff and a variety of training opportunities will be provided Advert To work according to ICH GCP and research governance standards for clinical research and current R&D Policy. To demonstrate knowledge of research protocols and their application in practice alongside a working knowledge of how to comply with local, national and international research regulations. To support the management of a caseload of concurrent clinical studies following a range of complex clinical research protocols. To identify, screen and recruit patients/volunteers into research studies according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure the effective achievement of study aims and monitoring of their condition throughout participation. To ensure potential participants are screened and are safe to enter the trial for its total duration. To register/randomise patients into research studies. To identify barriers to recruitment and ensure that senior team members are aware of them. To act as a contact for clinical research participants, working with senior colleagues in obtaining informed consent as delegated by the Principal Investigator and in providing ongoing follow up care whilst the patient is in the clinical study.
