Building Surveyor
Location: Dorchester, DorsetContract: Temporary (3-6 months)Rate: £400-£500 per day (DOE)Hours: 37 hours per week
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a Local Authority team supporting a diverse property portfolio across Dorset.
This is a hands-on role focused on delivering maintenance, compliance, and capital works projects, ensuring properties are safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard.
This opportunity would suit a proactive and experienced Surveyor who is confident managing projects, contractors, and stakeholders within a public sector or housing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver planned and reactive maintenance programmes
* Ensure compliance and safety across property assets
* Manage capital repair and refurbishment projects
* Oversee contractors and project delivery
* Manage budgets, procurement, and contracts
* Maintain accurate property and performance data
* Collaborate with internal teams and external partners
Requirements
We are looking for candidates with:
* Experience working as a Building Surveyor or similar role
* Strong experience delivering repairs, maintenance, or capital works programmes
* Experience managing contractors, budgets, and procurement processes
* Good knowledge of property compliance and maintenance standards
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Experience working within a Local Authority, housing, or public sector environment (desirable)
* Relevant qualification (degree or equivalent in Building Surveying or related field)
