Role DescriptionReporting to the site Focus Improvement & Projects Lead, the role has primary responsibility for the development and implementation of machine upgrades and machine capability to eliminate production efficiency and machine availability losses. This will include advancement of performance monitoring solutions, Condition Based and Reliability centred maintenance techniques within the site, integrating as part of the site Asset care plan, utilising the company Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), SAP.
This role works with the Maintenance Shift Manager, the Asset Care Manager and Planner to develop prioritised projects to install the one hundred year fix to top losses. Impacting Autonomous and Professional Maintenance plans, upload them into SAP and drive adherence to plan within the site.
As a part of the Engineering function, the role works with the site to strive to achieve optimal operational efficiency at the lowest cost through the delivery of targets against the strategic objectives of the function:

The role works closely with the Maintenance Shift Manager, Asset Care Planner, Engineering Team Leaders, Manufacturing Operations and Production Planning, to ensure the delivery of both the production plan and the planned maintenance activity. In doing so they ensure their site is working to attain optimum efficiencies, effectiveness and profitability, initiating and implementing change as appropriate to meet the needs of the business.
Dimensions:
1. Support the reduction of the site costs of asset management, supporting the Focus Improvement & Projects Lead.

Key Responsibilities:
Safety, Quality, Hygiene:
4. Undertake duties in a responsible manner giving due consideration to Safety, Environmental & Quality procedures, which form part of the Integrated Management System.
5. Ensure work undertaken conforms to legislative requirements
6. Embrace a culture of safe behavior and contractor health and safety within the production and engineering areas
7. Support a culture enhancing behavioral awareness to reduce accidents, incidents and near misses.
Improvement in Machine Performance through Project Delivery:
8. Monitor Production Processes and Production Line efficiencies to identify top losses and derive corrective plans.
9. Effectively utilise production shutdown windows to implement maximum positive impact to performance.
10. Coordinate the Production Line efficiency improvement program. o Work with the Asset care Manager and Planner and other members of the Engineering team as appropriate to develop effective AM and PM plans for the site. o Support the development of Condition Based monitoring techniques as part of a proactive Asset Care Management strategy. i.e. JIPM
11. Support the development of Reliability centred maintenance techniques as part of a proactive Asset Care Management strategy i.e. JIPM
12. Develop and drive the use of key measures that matter such as Equipment Performance Efficiency as part of site OEE.
13. Support the efficient and effective delivery of asset care plans, implementing a standard approach with the drive to ensure effective use of the CMMS, namely SAP across the site, in line with the Group PMS Roadmap & the Maturity Matrix site development tool.
14. Support the implementation of the broader Group asset care strategy across the site in conjunction with the Princes interpretation of the JIPM model involving AM, PRM and EEM.
15. AM – Proactively support Autonomous Maintenance steps 0 to 3
16. PRM – Drive Professional Maintenance steps 0 to 7
17. EEM – Engage and support in Early Equipment Management on Capital projects o Ensuring cost of projects and impact cost is transparent and known.
18. Support the development of SAP PM and other systems to drive planning and control and focussed improvements.
19. Maintain and exceed engineering standards etc. within group supply operations ensuring that substandard performance is identified and remedied.
20. Responsible for the site from a Reliability Engineering perspective. o Work with operational peer groups sharing best practice and providing advice and support as required. o Work with functional peer groups across sites sharing best practice and providing advice and support as required
Site Services and Energy Management:
21. Understand the site services KPI framework to drive performance standards of Water, Air, Gas, Electricity and Steam. Where a situation with new machine technology arises maximize the energy and environmental efficiency opportunities within current technological boundaries.
Site Electrical Management:
22. Understand and work within site electrical standards at a minimum compliant with current relevant legislation and the Princes group standards.
Stores Management:
23. Understand and support the stores development programme in whatever way deemed appropriate for the site. Could be with the application of new technology or storage systems.#
Site Capital Plan Management:
24. Working with the site engineering and production teams support the implementation of capital projects from initial concept through to successful conclusion and sign-off, including; Preparation and enabling work / Installation and commissioning. / Training and performance trials.
Continuous Improvement:
25. Support the transition from reactive to proactive with targets of 80% of Engineering work planned in advance, 20% of engineering time on C.I. with 75% known utilisation of engineers.
26. Key initiator of ‘Design out’ solutions to extend the life of components/assemblies to reduce the cost of Asset care.
27. Promote and drive 5S and GMP and other continuous improvement tools to identify areas for improvement to enhance quality, safety, efficiency and waste reduction o Continually review performance, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve KPI’s
Manage/Develop People:
28. Drive the training and development of the Engineering Technician teams within the CBM, RCM and CI areas of Asset Management.
29. Promote the highest levels of motivation and engagement, demonstrating effective leadership and communication.
30. Support a culture of ownership within the site team for the on-going development of the facilities. Evoke a proactive approach to change and improvement in the performance of the sites.
31. Conduct self in line with site values and behaviours at all times.
Technical Leadership:
32. Act as first point of technical support for Operations and Shift Managers in relation to CBM, RCM and CI areas of Asset Management.
33. Apply defined best practice in Asset Care Management activity.
34. Develop and apply own specialist technical skills in support of Asset Care Management KPI’s.
35. Support the Asset Care Manager in ensuring that anyone involved in the Asset Care Management process have a full understanding of the fundamentals of the processes and that any new technology and procedures are introduced in a manner that improves the competitive cost base of the Asset Care requirements for the site.
Communication:
36. Work closely with support functions (HR, H&S, Manufacturing, Technical, Logistics and Finance) to ensure resources required are identified and communicated with all outstanding issues resolved.
37. Support the Planner in the daily communication with Engineering, Manufacturing and Planning to ensure asset care plans for the site are executed as scheduled.
38. Liaise daily/hourly as required with colleagues within and cross functionally regarding asset care matters.
39. Communicate daily with engineering, manufacturing and planning to ensure asset care schedules take into account production priorities and considerations
40. Ensure communication to other sites and peers are undertaken as and when required to ensure consistency and best practice
Role Requirements
41. HNC/HND Calibre, hand-on experience in an operational and engineering environment with a track record of world class asset care implementation within the manufacturing sector.
42. Strong grounding and understanding of advanced Asset Management techniques such as CBM and RCM.
43. Demonstrable track record of achieving results/managing change.
44. Strong operational grounding within a complex fast moving manufacturing environment.
45. Operated within and familiar with implementation of the principles of World Class
46. Manufacturing environments / Continuous Improvement methodologies.
47. Experience of delivering results against financial targets, service levels and safety standards.
48. Good knowledge of established manufacturing processes, with awareness of developing technologies and techniques.
49. Good working knowledge of operating systems such as SAP, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
50. Good practical understanding of factory services (electricity, steam, compressed air, water etc.)
