Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our service as a Band 5 for a fixed term contract of 1 year to cover maternity leave. The vacancy will be in the Front Door Integrated Therapy team to start, but you may later rotate into another service area. The front door team operates a 7 day, 8am to 6pm service, and you may have the opportunity to work more flexibly depending on your skills and confidence.
You will work in a team-based structure with senior OT leads and be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team working closely with physiotherapists to provide an integrated approach to assessment and discharge.
Main duties of the job
* Provide occupational therapy interventions as part of an evidence-based, flexible and patient-centred approach, working within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Perform an occupational therapy role for patients referred to the post holder’s clinical team with health and social care needs.
* Provide supervision and support for relevant junior members of occupational therapy staff in conjunction with senior staff.
* Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated team.
* Support the supervision and training for students on practice placement.
Qualifications
Essential
* Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy or in final year of MSc or BSc in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC registered or in the process of obtaining registration
Desirable
* Experience of working in an NHS Acute Hospital Setting

Essential
* Ability to formulate treatment goals and carry out interventions within an OT framework
* Produce clear, concise written and verbal reports
* Ability to prioritise caseload on a daily basis
* Manage time effectively and demonstrate good organisational skills
Desirable
* Prescribing daily living equipment
* Group work skills
Experience
Essential
* OT clinical experience (incl. student placements) related to the speciality; or equivalent acceptable experience
* Experience of multidisciplinary working and partnership working with other agencies
People management and development

* Good verbal and written communication
* Ability to develop effective working and therapeutic relationships and team working
* Ability to establish and maintain communication on complex, potentially stressful topics in a range of situations, with individuals or groups
