Overview
Senior Engineer (Copy) role at Gateley Smithers Purslow. Full time position in Reigate.
Responsibilities
* Use a range of software to develop detailed structural designs as well as hand calculations
* Undertaking technical and feasibility studies including organising site investigations
* Liaise with clients and a variety of professionals including contractors and architects
* Preparation of reports, contract documents, management of tenders
* Provide technical advice to clients
* Obtain planning and/or buildings regulation approval
* Monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors
* Resolving design and development problems
* Management of budget and project resources
* Ensuring that all projects comply with legal requirements including CDM2015, Party wall, Listed buildings
* Assessment of sustainability and environmental impact of projects
* Undertake large value projects independently with sound knowledge on all aspects of professional consultancy services
* Promote the company’s services to secure projects and uphold Gateley Smithers Purslow brand
* Assist the director with training and development of the engineering team
* Provide supervision and support to Graduates and Engineers to promote knowledge and understanding
* Inspection / supervision of construction work on site under contract, preparation of interim and final accounts, claim and practical completion
* Comply with the company’s administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations
Qualifications and Skills
* MEng (Hons) in Structural Engineering
* Experience and extensive working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures with awareness of latest statutory requirements, publications and guidelines
* Experience in negotiation, supervisory and leadership roles
* Experience in working to deadlines and within budgets on large-scale projects
* Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills
* Ability to think methodically and manage projects
* Problem-solving skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Knowledge of relevant legislation
