About the role
Working in our fast-paced Central Transport operation, we require a people-focused Transport Assistant Site Manager to lead the transport team on the night shift. The overall aim is to ensure the traffic operation runs smoothly, accurately, and cost-effectively 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will ensure that all legal regulations are met so the company can carry out its business, with a sound knowledge of Road Transport Regulations and compliance management. You will seek cost savings against budget where appropriate and manage yard activities to achieve high standards. You will drive performance by monitoring KPIs and leading by example, directly managing a number of First Line Managers who in turn manage large numbers of drivers. You will report directly to the Transport Site Manager and deputise as required, developing positive relationships with other management team members, colleagues, and the wider business.
About you
As the most senior Transport Manager on site during the night shift, we are looking for a self-motivated, experienced Transport Manager/Transport Operations Manager within a distribution or logistics environment who can manage a large operation in a fast-paced setting. You will have excellent people management skills, with the ability to coach and develop your team, and have proven experience in managing Managers in complex employment situations.
You must possess a sound knowledge of Road Transport Regulations, and a National CPC licence holder for Transport Managers is essential, ensuring that O Licence requirements are adhered to. You will have strong experience in managing teams of 15+ people and have worked in a similar position within a retail and/or distribution environment with a good standard of education.

Role details
* Permanent opportunity, 40.25 hours per week average
* Night shift: Saturday - Tuesday/Sunday - Tuesday, 19:00-07:00
* Salary: c£45,900 - c£49,500 (inclusive of shift premiums) dependent on experience
* Basic pay: £19.23 - £20.87 per hour
