Overview
Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a Project Manager (Building Surveyor) to join our Enabling Functions - Property team located in Derby, but will be travelling UK Wide. Please note: this role requires a full driving license due to travel.
What you'll be doing
* Manage the day to day delivery of capital projects within the UK Permanent Estate, typically 10-20 projects per year with combined values up to £5m
* Draft and issue the brief
* Set up and manage JCT D&B contract
* Coordinate contractor and internal teams for delivery
* Manage the budget, review and advise on variations for approval by the Head of
* Ensure works are completed in compliance with safety regulations
* Ensure O&Ms and project information are handed over to the Facilities team
* Undertake dilapidations assessments and negotiate settlements across the estate
* Drive improvements to D&I and sustainability across the estate
Who we're looking for
* Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time management with strong attention to detail for meticulous review of plans and costs
* Experience of providing support in a fast-paced environment to meet targets and deadlines
* Strong communication, relationship and negotiation skills with a curiosity-led approach to delivery
* Understanding of CDM
* Advantageous – ability to use AutoCAD
* APM qualification is advantageous or working towards APM fundamentals (support will be provided)
* Degree or final year of degree with expected 2.1 in building surveying or project management
* Full clean driving licence (UK travel is required)
* Excellent IT skills, confident using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Copilot)
* Excellent team player with the ability to work on own initiative
* Experience of working in commercial fit-out
