The Role
Due to an internal promotion we are currently hiring for an Underwriting Assistant to join our Underwriting Operations team in our Manchester office.
This role supports underwriters in the review, assessment, and processing of both new and renewal business across the UK portfolio. Working under general supervision, you will undertake a variety of administrative and operational tasks, helping to ensure the efficient delivery of underwriting services while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Assist underwriters in evaluating and processing new and renewal risks, including handling low to moderate complexity cases within delegated authority.
* Act as a key point of contact between underwriters, brokers, and internal departments such as Actuarial, Billing & Collections, ensuring clear communication and timely follow‑ups.
* Prepare, issue, and assemble quotes and policies following underwriter approval, ensuring accurate documentation and system updates.
* Handle data entry, system population, file preparation, and policy issuance for new and renewal business, along with processing mid‑term adjustments when required.
* Review data quality within policy administration systems and ensure adherence to operational risk controls and compliance requirements.
* Provide assistance to colleagues where required, contribute to training of other Underwriting Assistants, and support project‑based work and process improvements.

* Technical proficiency – working knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with business systems used in underwriting or policy administration.
* Compliance awareness – understanding (or willingness to learn) of relevant legal, regulatory, and compliance frameworks within the insurance industry.
