About the Role
As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of all maintenance activities across the site, including mechanical and electrical inspection, planning, scheduling, execution, and improvement. You’ll oversee engineering and stores budgets, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining high standards of safety, environmental compliance, and plant reliability.
You’ll play a key role in forecasting and managing engineering budgets, leading shutdown planning and execution, and implementing best practices in maintenance systems (CMMS). Your ability to drive defect elimination, root cause analysis, and condition monitoring will be essential in achieving operational KPIs and long-term plant performance goals.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is a key member of the Plant Management Team and plays a vital role in the contribution to the success and future strategy of the operation.
Key Responsibilities
Champion a zero-harm culture and environmental excellence across the site
Lead and develop a high-performing maintenance team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement
Manage engineering budgets and working capital
Drive improvements in plant availability, reliability, and cost performance
Oversee procurement alignment with strategic and compliance objectives
Lead change management initiatives and coach teams through transformation
Ensure effective planning and execution of plant shutdowns and maintenance programs
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external partners
What We’re Looking For
Degree in Engineering (or equivalent)
NEBOSH qualification
Proven experience in heavy engineering at a senior level, ideally within cement manufacturing
Strong leadership and people management skills
Expertise in CMMS, budget management, and continuous improvement techniques
Excellent communication, influencing, and decision-making abilities
Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis and project commissioning
