As a Senior Information Strategy Manager at HS2 you will be responsible for developing an overarching information strategy for HS2, including policies, strategies, models, and governance, to ensure HS2 understands and manages its information throughout the program.
About the role:
* The management of the Information Governance and Assurance Officers and setting the strategic direction of the team.
* Planning and execution of HS2’s Information Management Strategy, including the specification of the projects needed to deliver the strategy.
* Maintenance and update of the Information Management aspects of the IMS frameworks and ensuring the processes are kept up to date as the HS2 programme evolves.
* Maturity development of the Information Management aspects of the Data and Information, and IT and Systems areas of HIP Programme, to ensure that HS2 achieves at least a level 3 of maturity, transitioning to level 4.
* Running the corporate Information Governance Group and ensuring that the wider organisation takes responsibility for the quality, availability and security of data.
* Ensuring that IT projects meet the requirements of Information Management and the Information Management Strategy.
* Liaising with the IT and Information Managers of the Tier 1 contractors in the supply chain to ensure products related to Information Management are delivered on time and to the right level of quality.
* Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

* Data integration design. You can establish standards and you keep abreast of best practice in industry and across government. You know how to keep those standards up to date and ensure adherence to them. (Relevant skill level: expert)
* Data modelling. You understand the concepts and principles of data modelling and can produce, maintain and update relevant data models for specific business needs. You know how to reverse-engineer data models from a live system. (Relevant skill level: working)
* Metadata management. You understand how metadata repositories can support different areas of the business. You can promote and communicate the value of metadata repositories. You know how to set up robust governance processes to keep repositories up to date. (Relevant skill level: expert)
* Problem resolution (data). You can anticipate problems and know how to prevent them. You understand how problems fit into the larger picture. * Understanding of metamodels, taxonomies and ontologies, as well as of the challenges of applying structured techniques (data modelling) to less-structured sources.
* Knowledge with data science concepts, as well as MDM (Master Data Management), business intelligence, and data warehouse design and implementation techniques
* Understanding of a variety of data access and analytics approaches (for example, microservices and event-based architectures)
* Understanding of Information and cyber security risk management
* Knowledge of Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts, Environmental Information Regulations and other legal aspects of managing information.
* Understanding of information technology service strategy, delivery and operations.
* Knowledge of auditing and compliance of security standards and policies
* Experience with distributed management and analytics in cloud and hybrid environments.
* Experience with implementing data and analytics management programs is preferred.
* Experience with innovation and ideation methods, such as design thinking.
* Experience of an Information Strategy position leading Information Assurance and Governance.
* Experience of developing and implementing Information Management strategies, objectives and plans without disrupting the business.
* Experience of running an effective Information Management function.
