About the role
In your role as Cyber Security Analyst you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to play an integral part in the mitigation of Cyber threats to USS.
The primary focus will be to monitor our systems, identify and remediate vulnerabilities and respond effectively to any security incidents.
In this role, you will need a good knowledge of SIEM tools, Vulnerability management as well as detection and response systems. Excellent troubleshooting and investigating skills are essential.
Additionally, you will understand threat analysis and cyber threat intelligence, the ability to look at complex threats and be able to assist in forensic analysis and surrounding techniques.
The Cyber Security Analyst role will be responsible for taking operational control of vulnerability remediation across the core USS service offering; understanding the specific vulnerability and then remediating it, The Cyber Security
You will work across multiple teams to provide detail on vulnerabilities and suggested remediations whereby remediation falls to the system owner or manager. Remediation of vulnerabilities is inclusive of, but not limited to, applications running on end-user compute Wintel systems, network hardware and appliances, Wintel Operating System patching and cloud services.
What you will be doing
As a trusted part of the IT you will be responsible for:
1. Manage daily monitoring and review of security incidents, ensuring proper logging and escalation
2. Conduct regular audits to identify vulnerabilities across the USS estate
3. Lead remediation efforts for identified vulnerabilities, collaborating with other technology teams
4. Maintain standards within monitoring and reporting systems in the Technology Services portfolio
5. Proactively stay abreast of emerging threats and gather information to ensure security status
6. Assist in supporting, maintaining, and governing security platforms
7. Conduct advanced analysis to determine root causes of security incidents and assist in remediation
8. Produce regular vulnerability reports to demonstrate USS compliance and security posture
9. Track cyber threats and provide support for penetration testing and compliance
10. Collaborate with stakeholders, provide technical input, and support policy governance

To be successful in the role you will have:
11. Strong experience with security vulnerability management
12. Good experience and knowledge of using Security Information and Event Management tools
13. Good experience and knowledge of implementing and supporting Network Access Control
14. Good experience and knowledge of advanced detection and response systems
15. Good understanding of exploits, malware, and digital forensics
16. Basic understanding of Network, Data Centre and WebApp security
17. Operational and working understanding of Wintel OS administration and identification and authentication concepts such as ADDS
18. Operational and working understanding of how applications are installed and methods of deployment onto Wintel OS services
19. Fundamental understanding of networking and network concepts such as routing, firewalls, DNS and PKI/Encryption Non-restricted (NR)
20. Good understanding of the cyber threat landscape
21. Experience conducting analysis/investigation and containment of potential data breaches or cyber security incidents
22. Experience in creating procedures and run books
23. Ability to work independently
24. Writing and delivering reports as identified
