<div><h3>Family Therapist Trainee</h3><p><b>The closing date is 25 June 2026</b></p><p>Band 6 Senior Practitioner – CAMHS Eating Disorder Service (Development Post to Band 7)</p><p>Hereford & Worcestershire CAMHS are pleased to offer an exciting development opportunity within our Eating Disorder Service (CEDS). We are seeking a motivated and compassionate practitioner who has already completed the Systemic Family Practice (SFP) 1‑year course and is ready to further develop their systemic skills.</p><p>This Band 6 post includes funded training to complete a 2‑year Postgraduate Diploma in Systemic Family Practice, with progression to Band 7 on successful completion. The post holder will work as part of our dedicated family therapy team, contributing systemic thinking to all aspects of care.</p><p>You will join a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team, including a Consultant Child Psychiatrist, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, RMNs, Psychologists, and Family Therapists.</p><p>This is an excellent opportunity if you are passionate, motivated, and ready to grow – this is your next step.</p><p>This is a full‑time post, but we would consider applicants looking for 30 hours per week.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><ul><li>Attend and complete a 2‑year Postgraduate Diploma in Systemic Family Practice.</li><li>Use well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills to communicate highly sensitive information and potentially distressing decisions to clients and colleagues in contexts of challenging behaviour.</li><li>Work autonomously and as a member of the multidisciplinary team, providing generic and specialist systemic psychotherapy assessments, therapy, care planning and interventions.</li><li>Provide specialist advice and consultation on systemic formulations and practice to CAMHS colleagues and within family therapy teamwork with own workplace.</li><li>Represent Family Therapy at strategic level meetings within and across agencies on issues relating to family therapy.</li><li>Take responsibility for initiating and coordinating the work programme for the Family Therapy Clinic within own workplace.</li><li>Contribute to clinical teams, both multidisciplinary and undiscipline through the development opportunities.</li></ul><h3>Job responsibilities</h3><p>Provide specialist mental health and specialist systemic psychotherapy and family therapy services to the CAMHS Eating Disorder Service, participating fully in the work of the multi‑disciplinary team and bringing a systemic perspective and expertise to all aspects of this work.</p><p>Provide specialist systemic assessments of clients and their families referred to the service based upon the appropriate use of specialist clinical skills with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care.</p><p>Be responsible for implementing a range of systemic psychotherapeutic interventions for individuals, carers, families, adjusting and refining systemic formulations as appropriate and drawing upon a wide range of models, approaches and techniques within systemic practice and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.</p><p>Attend team MDT, formulation, clinical supervision and provide specialist systemic consultation.</p><p>Support our new ED‑ISH Intensive home visiting service within CEDS.</p><p>For full details of the duties and criteria for the role please refer to the attached job description and person specification.</p><h3>Person Specification</h3><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>Extensive post‑registration experience in mental health care including mental health assessment and risk assessment.</li><li>Use of therapeutic interventions within mental health settings (1:1, counselling, family therapy and group work).</li><li>Delivering teaching/training.</li><li>Providing consultation.</li><li>Experience of working with eating disorders.</li><li>Experience of working in a CAMHS setting.</li><li>Experience of working in multi‑cultural contexts.</li><li>Experience of conducting research.</li><li>Experience of teaching and training.</li></ul><h3>Skills & Abilities</h3><ul><li>Ability to challenge poor behaviour.</li><li>A positive attitude and able to act on feedback.</li><li>Ability to praise and be supportive to others.</li><li>Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.</li><li>Appropriate and adaptable verbal and written communication.</li><li>Able to undertake audit.</li><li>Able to undertake risk assessments within mental health.</li><li>Advanced IT skills.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Evidence of post‑registered clinical qualifications/training or an equivalent level of training to a minimum of postgraduate diploma level.</li><li>Current registration with relevant professional body.</li><li>Will provide original certificates to verify qualifications at point of offer.</li><li>Training in other relevant therapeutic modalities.</li></ul><h3>Knowledge</h3><ul><li>Working knowledge of Health Service.</li><li>Working knowledge of mental health issues in CAMHS Services.</li><li>Good knowledge of own professional guidelines such as NMC/HCPC.</li><li>Good knowledge of recognised disorders and illnesses in the field of mental health.</li><li>Understanding of a range of communication styles when working with children and families in distress.</li><li>Interest in a specialist area.</li><li>Knowledge of the Mental Health Act.</li><li>Specialist knowledge and experience of working with a specific client group or mental health presentation.</li><li>Knowledge of current developments in CAMHS.</li></ul><h3>Additional Criteria</h3><ul><li>Able to meet the travel requirements of the post.</li><li>Ability to build constructive relationships with warmth and empathy using excellent communication skills.</li><li>Ability to contain and work with organisational
