Health Visitor, Specialist Community Public Health Nurse

Main duties of the job
The post holder is a qualified Health Visitor who will work autonomously as part of the Integrated Early Years Service (Health Visiting & Family Support) managing a designated caseload of children and families to improve their health and enable them to reach their full potential.
They will work collaboratively with other agencies to provide high-quality care to children and families. Child protection work involves gathering and analysing information, making informed assessments, appropriate referrals and participating in case conferences and core group meetings.
They will also support public health initiatives in line with local and national priorities, promoting, protecting, and improving the health of the population and reducing health inequalities.

* Use clinical judgement and risk assessments to keep people using the services as safe as possible.
* Safeguard people by recognizing and responding to abuse risk, recognizing limits, seeking help and escalating concerns when necessary.

Person Specification – Skills and Knowledge
* Communicate effectively with the multi‑disciplinary team, present cases, note actions, update others, and use handover effectively.
* Maintain accurate, timely, concise, and legible clinical records, both electronic and handwritten, following CNWL policies.
* Be competent in using Word, Teams, Zoom, Outlook and other electronic systems.
* Work well with other team members through effective communication, kindness, consideration, reliability, and enthusiasm.
* Mentor, teach and support others in the team.
* Have training in supervision and appraisal.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (NMC Registered) or Registered Specialist Practitioner Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor).
* Evidence of relevant continuous professional development.
Previous Experience
* Experience working with children, families, and/or vulnerable groups.
* Ability to work autonomously while recognising limits and seeking support appropriately.
* Knowledge of safeguarding children, including current legislation and local procedures.
* Experience delivering the Healthy Child Programme.
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working.
* Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards.
* Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management.
* Aware of current public health priorities (e.g., health inequalities).
* Knowledge of information governance and confidentiality requirements (e.g., GDPR).
* Experience in community settings.
* Caring for service users, their families and carers, and other staff.
* Respectful of others and treats them as one would like to be treated.
* Willing to work with service users, families, and staff in a way that empowers and supports others.
* Willing to work in partnership with service users, their friends and family, and other health care professionals.

Salary
£45,953 to £54,254 a year, including HCAS.
