Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications plus a Market Supplement of up to £10,000, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher's Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week - 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent - Full Time

About the role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Built Environment and Sustainable Development to join our Building Services department at The Bedford College Group.
* Curriculum Design & Built Environment Delivery - Plan, develop and deliver engaging programmes in Built Environment and Sustainable Development, ensuring curriculum relevance and alignment to learner progression and industry needs.
* Teaching, Learning & Student Development - Deliver high-quality teaching through varied, real-world learning activities, supporting learners to develop knowledge, life skills and achieve their potential.
* Assessment, Progress & Behaviour Management - Monitor attendance and progress, assess learner performance, manage behaviour effectively and implement interventions to support achievement and positive conduct.
* Planning, Resources & Safe Learning Environments - Prepare schemes of work, learning resources and risk-assessed environments, ensuring safe, well-managed classrooms and workshops.
* Professional Practice, Collaboration & Compliance - Contribute to course development, team activities and external engagement, while upholding safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and continuous professional development standards.
About you
* Qualifications, Teaching & Sector Development - Level 3 specialist qualification with PGCE/Cert Ed, supported by commitment to achieving TAQA and developing expertise in Built Environment and Sustainable Development.
* Teaching, Assessment & Learner Progress - Experience in assignment design, marking and progress tracking, delivering engaging teaching across levels and ensuring learners meet targets and deadlines.
* Curriculum Knowledge & Compliance - Strong understanding of personal development topics (e.g. Safeguarding, Prevent, British Values) and quality assurance processes within teaching and learning.
* Organisation, IT & Classroom Management - Highly organised with strong IT skills (Microsoft Office, Teams/ProMonitor), able to manage learner groups effectively and maintain high standards of behaviour and achievement.
* Professional Values, Collaboration & Flexibility - Motivated, reflective and learner-focused, committed to safeguarding, CPD and teamwork, with flexibility to adapt to changing needs and work across College sites.
