Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
As a Strategic Research Partnerships Advisor, you will drive long-term research collaborations with major industry partners, focusing on developing significant new partnerships with leading national companies and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
Working closely with the Deputy Director of Research & Innovation, your responsibilities include:
* Supporting senior researchers and external stakeholders in co-developing partnership models.
* Facilitating collaboration and shared research agendas to align UC's research goals with impactful industry outcomes.
* Identifying and securing new research funding sources through strategic business partnerships.
* Exploring co-investment opportunities such as co-funded PhDs, contract research, and applied research programs.
You will also contribute to building a scalable framework for engaging with strategic commercial stakeholders.
Ideal candidates will have experience in research engagement, strategic partnerships, or business development within research-intensive environments. A strong understanding of research funding mechanisms and industry collaboration models both in New Zealand and internationally is essential. Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder partnerships or consortia, along with the ability to prepare proposals, partnership models, and investment cases, is required. Excellent communication and facilitation skills to bridge academia and industry are also necessary.
The Research & Innovation team provides end-to-end services to facilitate all stages of research and innovation, from funding to commercialization. They support academic staff in securing research funding and oversee all research-related contracts, serving as the university’s liaison with funding bodies, industry, and business.
