The StaffBank for Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust is seeking enthusiastic senior Hand Therapy Therapist to join our pool of Staff Bank workers. Many full-time roles are available, but as they are ever-changing, the exact roles will be provided once your Hiring & Recruitment is complete. Depending on your relevant experience and NHS experience, higher banding/rates can be discussed.
Main duties of the job
* Carry and prioritize your own patient caseload and other ongoing tasks, allocating appropriate work to technical instructors and students.
* Perform specialist therapy assessments of patients with diverse and complex presentations, using advanced clinical reasoning skills to analyze, interpret, and make judgments on complex facts or situations, providing specialized packages of care, treatment, and advice based on evidence-based practice and available treatment options.
* Attend consultant outpatient clinics to assess and treat patients as necessary.
* Use standard assessment tools with patients and apply additional relevant skills in specialized splint making.
* Communicate sensitively and reassuringly complex condition and functional risk/limitation information to patients and carers, gaining consent and cooperation in assessment and treatment, and advising on ongoing care options.
* Attend multidisciplinary meetings as the hand therapist representative to inform complex discussions, gather information, analyze options, and participate in clinical decision-making and discharge planning.
* Evaluate patient progress, reassess, and modify treatment programs as needed.

Professional Registration - HCPC
* HCPC registration
Skills
* Experience working with the public in various settings with good customer care skills.
* Experience in healthcare, rehabilitation, mobility, and communication skills.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education
* 5 GCSEs at Grade C or equivalent, including English and Maths.
