Overview
PA for an 11-year-old boy. Reporting to: Charlotte O’Brien. Location: LS12. Job purpose: To assist with tasks that enable the service user to live his personal and social life according to his wishes and interests. The service user enjoys swimming, trampolining, sensory play, watching TV shows (Peppa Pig, Ben & Holly’s), rough play, outdoor activities, baking/cooking, arts & crafts, and exploring the city of York. The service user has Autism. Behaviour techniques include praise and rewards; when challenged, diverting/delaying and giving space if safe to do so. The service user is patient, good at waiting, and does not like to be watched.
Skills for the PA to help the child build on include sharing with others, safety in public settings, learning to interact with new people, and increasing independence when away from mum.
