GLL is currently looking for Lead Swimming Teachers based at Highgrove Pool and Fitness Centre. Join us as a Lead Swimming Teacher and play a key role in developing both our customers' swimming skills and the skills of your team of teachers. As an experienced swimming teacher, you’ll thrive on supporting people to achieve their potential, taking into account their nature and needs. A Lead Swimming Teacher will draw on their knowledge of practices, progression, and teaching points, applying it effectively while supporting and guiding your team of teachers. There’ll be some administration involved, but most of your time will be spent doing what you do best: teaching people to become stronger swimmers and leading your team to success.
We’re looking for Lead Swimming Teachers who are approachable, friendly, and patient—able to build trust, motivate pupils, and encourage with praise. You’ll need to be STA Certificate level or Swim England Level 2 qualified, and ideally have the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches. Knowledge of health, safety, relevant legislation, and Child Protection Policy is essential.
What you will do:
1. Maintain a positive image of the Centre by providing a welcoming, helpful, and professional poolside service.
2. Ensure the safety and control of pupils during lessons, complying with all relevant regulations.
3. Follow the Safeguarding Policy and Behaviour Policy within the Swim School.
4. Lead and motivate a team of teachers to deliver lessons in line with the product manual for consistency.
5. Coordinate and oversee team teaching, including managing registers, grouping swimmers, and ratios.
6. Mentor and develop your team and newly qualified teachers, providing positive feedback and attending meetings and training.
7. Monitor attendance and pupil progress, updating records to support achievement of relevant awards.
8. Assist with enrolments and re-enrolments as required by the General Manager.
9. Encourage pupils to enroll in further and short courses.
