Task Coordinator (C17)

Company:

Boeing Defence United Kingdom Limited

An exciting opportunity has become available to join Boeing Defence UK as a Task Co-Ordinator for the C-17 aircraft at RAF Brize Norton. The Boeing Team at Brize Norton plays a vital role in supporting the Royal Air Force, with a dedicated team of over 100 employees providing real-time, time-critical assistance to the C-17 operational team.

As a Task Co-Ordinator you will be responsible for planning and coordinating maintenance tasks across the RAF 99 Sqn C17 fleet. Each Task Co‑Ordinator will be assigned specific aircraft ownership while also owning key planning domains across all aircraft. This dual responsibility provides depth of focus for assigned aircraft and cross‑fleet consistency for critical planning areas, enabling compliance and minimised aircraft downtime.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Act as the primary owner for assigned aircraft: maintain accurate aircraft configuration, maintenance status and task history in the management database.

2. Validate that all documentation is accurate and accessible for engineering teams.

3. Prioritise and schedule tasks in line with operational requirements.

4. ADFs (Acceptable Deferrable Faults) and LIMs (Limitations):

5. Ensure management records reflect ADFs/LIMs and that these are managed, prioritised and scheduled appropriately.

6. Coordinate with engineering and documentation controllers to validate instructions and close‑out actions.

7. TCTOs / SI(T)s (Time Compliance Technical Orders / Special Instructions):

8. Track active and applicable TCTOs and SI(T)s across the fleet.

9. Ensure timely scheduling and execution of directives.

10. Confirm required documentation, tooling and spares are available before task initiation.

11. Coordinate with engineering authorities to verify compliance and close‑out procedures.

Time Change Items:

12. Monitor life‑limited components and forecast replacement schedules.

13. Ensure spares are ordered and available ahead of expiry.

14. Coordinate with logistics and engineering to minimise aircraft downtime.

15. Maintain visibility of upcoming changes to support proactive planning.

Other Maintenance Planning (e.g., Structures Bay Tasks):

16. Plan and coordinate structural maintenance requiring specialist support.

17. Liaise with bay teams to schedule tasks around capacity and environmental constraints.

Meetings & Communication:

18. Participate in maintenance input and coordination meetings to identify and escalate spares or scheduling concerns that may impact task readiness or timelines.

19. Act as a central point of contact between engineering teams, supply chain and documentation controllers to ensure consistent communication and alignment.

20. Provide clear updates on task progress, spares status and outstanding actions to support informed decision making and efficient workflow coordination.

21. Task Readiness – Enabling Factors Checklist: For every planned task, confirm the following are in place:

22. Spares Availability: all required parts and consumables are available or ordered with sufficient lead time.

23. Tooling: specialised tools and equipment are available, calibrated and booked if required.

24. Task Dependencies: any prerequisite tasks or inspections are identified and planned.

Required Qualifications:

25. Proven experience in aircraft maintenance planning or coordination.

26. Strong understanding of military aviation maintenance systems and documentation.

27. Excellent organisational and communication skills.

28. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Additional Qualifications:

29. RAF or MOD engineering background.

30. Experience with C‑17 or similar large transport platforms.

31. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and airworthiness standards.

32. Hold a UK Driving License and be capable of holding an airside driving permit (Vill verify airside driving permit requirements).
