Job Title: Field Engineer
Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: up to £45,000 Benefits
Purpose of the Role: A UK-wide communications company providing a wide range of services to a variety of customers is seeking a Field Engineer for its Radio department. Based at their Greater Manchester office, this position complements our engineering team and provides additional skill and resource to an expanding product and customer base. The successful applicant will be involved with all aspects of system design, delivery, and maintenance for radio communications products.
Skills & Experience:
* Assist with pre-sales support including system surveys, system design, specification, and documentation.
* Design, installation, and commissioning of PMR, DMR, telemetry radio & microwave infrastructure.
* Support and maintain Motorola radio systems.
* Liaise with customers regarding system reporting, performance, and maintenance issues.
* Diagnose and repair a range of radio equipment, from hand portables to base stations.
* Conduct diagnostic tests using bench and portable test equipment.
* Prepare H&S documentation to meet customer requirements.
* Maintain technical standards within the department.
* Ensure understanding of products and services is shared within the organization.
* Contribute to bid support and evaluation.
* Provide post-sales support, including customer training.
* Support and coach team members.
* Participate in standby rotas.
* Ensure a right first-time approach.
* Complete and return documentation promptly.
* Adhere to Health and Safety guidelines.
* Identify and exploit earning opportunities.
* Perform other duties as assigned by management.
* Deliver outstanding installations.
* Ensure smooth transition to the service team.
* Enhance the company's reputation as a Systems Engineer.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in the two-way radio communications industry, including Motorola PMR, DMR, Tetra, Radio Telemetry, or Microwave Systems.
* Knowledge of IP-based technologies such as routing, switching, and VoIP.
* Experience with Distributed Antenna Systems, VHF, UHF, Cellular.
* Ability to detect and resolve RF interference & intermodulation.
* Experience with Cell Enhancer utilisation and RF pollution management.
* Knowledge of 2G/3G/4G in-building coverage techniques.
* Conduct EMF testing, calculations, and measurements to ICNIRP guidelines for OFCOM compliance.
* Experience in project design and management.
* Ability to produce H&S documentation.
* Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
* Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines.
* Willingness to travel and work away from home.
* Strong team player with high autonomy.
* Willing to undergo security vetting.
* Good communication skills.
* Full UK driving license.
* Experience with LV electrical systems, Control & Automation/SCADA, and communications protocols.
* Proficiency with Windows Server, SQL Server, RF over Fibre, and related systems.
* Additional certifications such as CCNA, PASMA, HNC in Electrical/Electronics, and confined space training are desirable.
