An exciting opportunity has risen for internal candidates to join the Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) Nurse Practitioner team. This post is a permanent band 7 position for an experienced SACT / oncology nurse to deliver expert care and support to patients undergoing SACT.
The working hours for the post are Monday - Friday 08:30 -16:30, the successful candidate will be expected to work as part of the team conducting nurse -led clinics, managing complex clinical situations with confidence and autonomy.
Main duties of the job
1. To work as an autonomous clinical practitioner providing advanced nursing assessments, care and interventions including physical assessments and prescribing to facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients.
2. To act as a professional role model, providing expert direct and indirect advanced clinical care, teaching, research and leadership. The post holder is required to meet the knowledge, skills and behaviours across all four pillars of advanced practice.
3. To make decisions independently within area of expertise being aware of own limitations and using Senior Nursing and Medical staff when required.
4. Advanced communication skills to ensure patients and their carers are informed of potential SACT induced toxicities and their management. Communicate with other health care professionals internal and external to the Trust ensuring delivery of quality patient care.
5. Contribute to the continuous review of quality of care and patient experience alongside the MDT
