We are a highly successful outdoor retailer who offer quality outdoor clothing and equipment at the lowest prices since 1997. We now have over 400 stores and more than 3000 employees.
We are seeking a passionate, operational, forward‑thinking and people‑focused Area Manager to lead teams across Exeter, Dartmouth, Barnstaple, Dorchester, Wells and surrounding areas. Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership of approximately 19 stores, helping maximise store sales and profitability through strong operational and customer service standards, as well as building and developing a high‑performing team.
Key Responsibilities
* Driving sales to achieve business budget and profit growth
* Establishing and maintaining best practice in Customer care
* Building a people development strategy to support succession
* Coaching and improving Visual Merchandising to meet company standards
* Delivering operational compliance across your stores
* Acting as liaison between Head Office, building and encouraging relationships
* Ensuring adherence to company procedures and policies, protecting assets and brand, and building strong partnerships with people partners
* Recruiting, coaching, developing and managing a high‑performing team to the standards required by Mountain Warehouse
* Visiting stores on a regular cycle to maintain consistency, leaving a supportive footprint to improve under‑performance
* Continuously seeking opportunities to grow profit by reducing costs
A Typical Week
* Driving Key Performance Indicators through store teams and ensuring commercial viability
* Analyzing business results and trends, taking actions to drive sales and profitability
* Visiting stores to add value with clear, supportive actions aligned with business strategy
* Recognizing outstanding sales performance across teams
* Developing, sharing and implementing best practices across the area
* Communicating regularly with the Regional Manager and Head Office to highlight problems and opportunities
* Being an inspirational leader, demonstrating positive service and management techniques
We Would Like To Meet Someone Who Is
* Proven successful track record in delivering service, sales and profit expectations at field level
* Minimum two years field management experience, preferably in Retail or Service Sector – apparel experience would be an advantage
* Proven people‑management, communication and leadership skills
* Demonstrated track record of managing projects such as opening stores and dealing effectively with arising issues
