The Business Systems Analyst – Finance plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. This role involves gathering, analysing, and documenting business requirements, and working closely with stakeholders to ensure that the solutions meet the business objectives. Being in our back-office function, you will support and enable our financial activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with finance stakeholders (e.g., accounting, FP&A, treasury) to gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements for financial applications, including those linked to our CRM systems via integrations.
* Financial Process Analysis: Analyze current financial processes (e.g., GL, AP, AR, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting) to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation or optimization; work with stakeholders to optimize processes in finance management and reporting systems.
* Risk and Compliance Management: Identify potential risks (e.g., data integrity, regulatory non-compliance, financial reporting errors) associated with business requirements and develop mitigation strategies, ensuring adherence to internal controls and compliance standards (e.g., SOX, GAAP, IFRS).
* Collaboration: Partner with IT teams, software vendors, and business units to ensure finance systems meet user needs; act as a liaison between technical teams and business users to ensure requirements are understood and implemented.
* Challenge: Question the “as is” and explore the “to be” to ensure that what is requested is aligned with business needs.
* Documentation: Create detailed documentation including functional specifications, epics, user stories, use cases, process maps, and data flow diagrams; develop and maintain user manuals, system documentation, and training materials for finance systems.
* Testing and Validation: Assist in developing test cases and testing procedures; coordinate business acceptance testing (BAT) to ensure systems meet business, accounting, and audit requirements before go-live.
* Prioritisation: Help prioritise system requirements based on business needs, resource availability, and potential business impact; balance competing requirements to determine the most important features or improvements for finance systems.
* Communication and Change Management: Provide clear, timely communication to finance stakeholders regarding system changes, impacts, timelines, and training; support change management initiatives for smooth adoption.
* Reporting and Analytics: Ensure finance systems provide accurate reports and analytics; support the implementation of reporting tools and dashboards tracking key metrics such as income, days sales outstanding, monthly forecast targets, etc.
Experience And Skills
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business analysis or a related field
* Experience with Navision or NetSuite
* Strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Familiarity with BA tools and techniques (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, MS Visio)
* Knowledge of industry-standard methodologies and frameworks (e.g., BABOK, BPMN)
* Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment is preferred
* Finance / Accountancy certification is preferred
