Overview
Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant - Chesterfield. Academics are looking to appoint a passionate and resilient Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to join a dedicated secondary setting in Chesterfield. This exciting position is perfect for someone who thrives on making a difference and supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional, social, and learning needs.
The Role
* Provide tailored support to pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.
* Work 1:1, with small groups, and within classrooms to deliver targeted interventions.
* Assist teachers with planning, preparation of resources, and behaviour management.
* Take responsibility for leading sessions or covering classes in short-term teacher absence.
* Build positive relationships that encourage independence, confidence, and academic progress.
* Support both on-site and, when required, during safe and well visits or home learning.
* Contribute to safeguarding and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment for all learners.
Pay Rates
* £111 per day
* £555 per week (based on 5 days)
* £21,645 per year (term-time only)
Candidate Requirements
* Experience working with young people who have additional or behavioural needs.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting learners.
* A full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance (for occasional visits).
* GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
* Desirable qualifications include Team Teach or behaviour management training, First Aid certification, and prior work in alternative education.
