DevOps Engineer – (Azure)
Location: Durham (Hybrid)
Salary: £63,000 per annum
I’m supporting a fast-growing, tech-led organisation investing heavily in its platform and engineering capability as it scales beyond MVP.
This is an opportunity to join at a key stage of growth, where the focus is on building secure, scalable, and reliable cloud infrastructure, not just maintaining what’s already there.
You’ll be part of a Platform Engineering team with strong technical standards, working across modern cloud-native environments and contributing to how engineering is done across the business.
What you’ll do
* Design and build secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure in Azure
* Deliver infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM, YAML)
* Deploy and manage containerised applications within Kubernetes environments
* Monitor platform performance, availability, and reliability
* Work closely with engineering teams to support delivery through CI/CD and DevOps practices
* Contribute to Agile delivery across Scrum and Kanban environments
* Support the evolution of platform standards and engineering practices
What we’re looking for
* Experience working as a DevOps or Platform Engineer within cloud environments
* Strong hands-on experience with Azure
* Infrastructure-as-Code capability (Terraform ideally)
* Experience working with Kubernetes and containerised environments
* Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary engineering team
Nice to have:
* Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Bicep)
* Exposure to C#/.NET environments
* Understanding of observability, monitoring, and platform reliability
* Awareness of cost optimisation / FinOps practices
* Interest in using AI to improve engineering productivite
This is a role for someone who wants to be part of building and scaling a platform properly, contributing to engineering standards and working within a team that values quality and continuous improvement.
