Job: Autism Support Practitioner
Location: Harrogate
Type: Full Time - Long Term (Permanent Roles Available)
The Role:
An Autism Support Practitioner will deliver a high level of tailored care and educational support to a range of children and young adults with autism and other learning needs.
You will be confident in supporting a range of learners with their educational progress, developing social skills, whilst promoting self-regulation and development through a range of personalised and adapted interventions across their school day.
The SEN setting for this role is set up with fantastic facilities to help create a nurturing and creative learning environment, including sensory rooms, soft areas, interactive play stations and outdoor education facilities.
The Requirements:
Previous experience supporting children or adults with Autism and/or other learning needs.
Comfortable supporting children and young adults with personal care, hygiene support and changing.
Have appropriate knowledge around sensory needs (Visual, Touch, Communication and Hearing) and how to implement suitable sessions for those learners.
Be confident in managing behaviour, implementing de-escalation techniques and helping children with self-regulation.
Able to support on a one-to-one basis, and across small intervention groups.
