An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical Scientist to lead MRI Physics at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role will provide strategic and professional leadership for MRI services, ensuring safe, effective, and optimised imaging across clinical and research activity. The postholder will act as the Trust’s lead expert for MRI safety and governance, providing authoritative scientific advice and partnering with the appointed Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert (MRSE) where required.
Responsibilities
* Establish and develop a high‑quality MRI physics service to support routine clinical operations and research programs.
* Act as the Trust’s principal Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert (MRSE), delivering specialist scientific and technical advice.
* Lead MRI scanner commissioning, performance evaluation, and image quality optimisation across clinical services.
* Develop and implement robust policies, quality standards, and technical assurance procedures.
* Build workforce capacity and provide training and supervision for trainee clinical scientists.
* Collaborate closely with imaging, clinical, academic, and regional partners to support service development, innovation and research.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations 2016, and uphold Trust values and corporate governance standards.
* Provide strategic direction and operational leadership for all MRI physics activities.
