It is the highest value venture ever put into place by Scottish Water and will reshape Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027 to 2033 (with potential to extend for another 6 years). AECOM will be at the heart of this ground-breaking delivery model, shaping design excellence at scale and working with Scottish Water and our Enterprise Partners to help drive outcomes that deliver value for customers in Scotland and go beyond net zero. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to support on this programme and work alongside a talented, diverse team committed to innovation and efficiency. Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as an Associate Director Mechanical Engineering in one of our Scotland offices – whilst also taking advantage of work from home days through our hybrid work approach. Here's what you'll do: Prepare feasibility studies, outline design, detailed design and construction support Act as Lead Verifier for Mechanical design drawings, mechanical plant selection, specifications, WIMES Data Sheets, Valve schedules, Equipment Schedules, lifting strategies, hydraulic headloss calculations and P&IDs Liaise and collaborate with our water and other discipline teams including civil, electrical, process and mechanical engineers nationwide Lead a Mechanical Engineering Team preparing designs of the Mechanical Elements for Water Treatment Plants, Wastewater Treatment Plants and Infrastructure projects Develop Scopes, Proposals, Estimates and Programmes for Mechanical engineering projects Manage and deliver the Mechanical Engineering elements of Multi-disciplinary Water Projects including Treatment plants. Acting as Mechanical Lead on projects including WwTW, WTW and Infrastructure. Supporting the Project Manager and Design Lead to successfully deliver the Mechanical Scope to programme and budget Act as overall Design Lead for Mechanical biased projects Mentor and support junior engineers and provide training and development Visit site to carry surveys and support of liaisons with clients, contractors & suppliers Lead and contribute design review meeting such as HAZOPs, HAZIDs, ALMs and SWIFTS Assist the Project Manager to set realistic programmes and budgets for Mechanical projects Be a Line manager for Senior Engineers and Principal Engineers Enjoy the Perks.
