B7 Clinical Lead (Enhanced Intensive Pathway - ESLS)

We have an opportunity for a forward-thinking dynamic Practitioner within our LDA Enhanced Support & Liaison Service (ESLS). There is an expectation that you will work across the core hours of the team, and this may include some weekend working on occasion.

ESLS is a county wide, 7 day per week service (8am - 8pm) which functions as part of a multi‑agency pathway, working with service users, providers, carers, families, social care, and health partners to enable people with a learning disability and/or autistic people in Lincolnshire to receive appropriate care in the right place at the right time.

Levels of support offered:

* Level 1 – Generic support
* Level 2 – Patient Specific Support
* Level 3 – Enhanced Patient Specific Support

Within the levels of intervention and support offered, there are different pathways that an individual might access.

* Community Liaison Pathway
* Enhanced and Intensive Community Intervention & Support

This advertised post would focus on providing direct clinical leadership and clinical expertise into the Enhanced and Intensive Pathway.

Main duties of the job

You should be a health professional with significant experience of delivering clinical care and interventions to autistic people and/or people with a learning disability in acute mental distress, shutdown/burnout who are at risk of admission to a mental health setting and/or at risk of placement breakdown.

You should have sound knowledge of the National Dynamic Support Register and CETR policy and the national agenda to support this group of citizens in living well in their own communities. You will provide daily clinical leadership to a motivated team of health professionals, within this fast paced pathway, when working with individuals and families in high levels of distress ensuring that care is coordinated, clearly planned and person‑centred.

You will be confident supporting others to provide core therapeutic interventions to reduce distress and risk in either clinical group, such as Positive Behavioural Support or mental health interventions. You will also have a sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation at all times and be able to lead clinical discussions and decision‑making with these in mind.

Qualifications

* Qualified Health Care Professional with current registration (NMC/HCPC)
* Evidence of specialised continued professional training (degree level) in clinical practice (or able to evidence equivalent experience)
* Specialist qualifications relating to Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Mental Healthcare and Learning Disabilities at postgraduate level e.g. NMP, MSc.
* Experience of working within a mental health inpatient environment


Experience

* Post‑Registration experience of working with adults with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism and Mental Health needs with complex physical health needs
* Experience of working with those in acute mental health crisis, or in acute autistic burnout or shutdown or showing Behaviours of Concern
* Experience of managing and/or supervising registered professional staff across a range of issues.
* Leadership of clinical staff.
* Significant knowledge of the national agenda for learning disabilities and/or autism
* Specific knowledge on Building the Right Support and admission avoidance in LDA (DSR/CETR)
* Sound knowledge of clinical/risk assessment and understanding of confidentiality
* Sound knowledge of community care issues, local health and social structures, functions and boundaries.
* Sound knowledge of the Mental Capacity and Mental Health Acts.
* Evidence of continuing professional development and a proven record of a higher level of clinical practice in complex cases within this specialist field
* Experience of delivering training to staff/carers/patients
* Experience of leading complex case discussions
* Experience of leading on clinical supervision.
* Best Interest Assessor.


Skills

* Highly developed clinical reasoning skills
* Prioritisation and resource allocation, planning and organisational skills
* Able to communicate complex and at times highly sensitive information to a variety of stakeholders
* Good negotiation skills for conflict resolution
* Excellent IT skills: email, word processing, excel, systems use.
* Analyse and interpret data and/or information
* Highly developed skills in clinical assessment and intervention
* Highly developed skills in risk management
* Self‑motivated with excellent personal management skills.
* Able to inspire and motivate others using a range of leadership skills
* Able to motivate and work with individuals what are hard to reach
* Statistics and Audit.
