Key Account Director – Healthcare (Soft Services)

The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Key Account Director to take full leadership responsibility for a large, complex healthcare soft services contract within an acute hospital environment.
This is a senior, visible role with accountability for people leadership, commercial performance, service delivery and strategic client partnership, operating within a highly regulated and politically sensitive setting.
The Role
Reporting at a senior operational level, the Key Account Director will have end‑to‑end responsibility for the delivery of multi‑service soft FM operations, including cleaning, catering, portering, security, helpdesk, switchboard and retail.
The position requires a confident and resilient leader who can balance operational grip with strategic thinking, influence senior stakeholders, and maintain strong professional credibility across internal teams and external partners.
This is a fully site‑based role, requiring daily on‑site leadership and visible engagement with teams and the client.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide overall leadership of all soft services across a large acute hospital estate
* Take full ownership of financial performance, including budgets and P&L accountability
* Lead, develop and engage a large, diverse on‑site workforce
* Act as the senior point of contact with the client, building a strong, trust‑based strategic relationship
* Operate effectively within a PFI or complex contractual environment
* Ensure consistent achievement of SLAs, KPIs, statutory compliance and governance requirements
* Translate evolving customer needs into effective service solutions
* Drive continuous improvement, operational resilience and service optimisation
About You
You will be a senior facilities management professional with a strong background in Soft FM contract leadership, ideally gained within healthcare or similarly complex, regulated environments.
You are likely to have operated at Key Account Director, Contract Director, Account Director, General Manager or Associate Director level and will bring:
* Proven leadership of multi‑service Soft FM contracts at scale
* Strong commercial and financial acumen with demonstrable P&L ownership
* Experience working within PFI or complex outsourced contracts
* Healthcare experience is beneficial, but not essential
* Credibility operating with senior stakeholders and boards
* A confident leadership style with the ability to challenge constructively
* A hands‑on, on‑site approach with strong operational discipline
