We are looking for a part time Medical Secretary to join our hard working and supportive team. You can expect to work approximately 24 hours a week on Mon, Tues and Fri. The role requires a commitment to providing our patients with a friendly, caring and efficient service. The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working within a medical setting, have excellent communication skills and an eye for detail. A working knowledge of the EMIS clinical system is essential. Enthusiasm and a good work ethic are also important to us.
Main duties of the job
* To provide an efficient service and support our clinical team and other healthcare professionals.
* To communicate accurately and effectively both verbally and in writing.
* to complete 2 Week Wait referrals and maintain accurate and appropriate records. Checking that these referrals have been attended and reporting concerns to the referring GP.
* Generate and monitor hospital referral letters via the e-Referral tool. Communicating queries and rejections to the GPs.
* Produce letters for patients and colleagues, meaning that excellent keyboard skills are required.
* Deal with enquiries from patients and hospitals, handling communications in line with practice policies/procedures.
* To always be courteous and helpful to patients, visitors and colleagues.
* To be aware of and follow practice policies and procedures.
* To be flexible and support the practice teams as necessary, and in the event of staff sickness/annual leave be prepared to provide extra cover as agreed.

Woodlands Primary Care is a busy surgery with over 11,500 patients. We have 4 GP Partners, 3 salaried doctors, 2 Nurse Practitioners and 3 Practice Nurses. We are a training practice for medical students.

Person Specification
Experience
* Knowledge of EMIS clinical System.
* Experience of maintaining accurate records and providing an efficient and effective service to both patients and colleagues.
* Appreciation of the need to treat patients with care and respect.
* Be a hard working, efficient team player
* Previous experience within primary care
* Previous secretarial/administrative experience within a GP practice
