Main duties of the job
As a healthcare porter you will provide a high standard of domestic and general household duties within the prison for patients with healthcare needs. You will be required to move around the prison each day improving enablement to healthcare appointments.
Other responsibilities include maintaining hygiene standards, stock control, emergency equipment, and supporting the clinical team.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Provide housekeeping service within prison healthcare areas.
* Wipe down clinic rooms, tables, trolleys, work surfaces.
* Maintain healthcare areas.
* Supply and replenish consumables (paper towels, toilet rolls, soap etc).
* Follow standard operational procedures (health, hygiene, securing, locking doors).
* Implement IPC measures.
* Maintain appropriate stock levels for essential and non-essential equipment.
* Move and handle equipment.
* Check emergency equipment and bags.
* Check fridge temperature.
* Support the clinical team when required.
* Deliver movement slips to the prison population.
* Support health promotion initiatives.
* Organise work plan prioritising own workload to ensure all daily duties are carried out.
* Answer telephone enquiries.
* Assist patients with housekeeping services as appropriate.
* Undertake surveys/audits necessary to your work.
Person specification
Experience
* Previous experience as a housekeeper, cleaner or porter.
* Experience in a healthcare setting.
Skills
* Good interpersonal skills.
